WELCOME TO UOPXTEAMC!!

We are a University of Phoenix Learning Team in the Master's/ Adult Education and Training Program (AET). The focus of this wiki is E-learning and all of its components from web tools, instructional platforms and even individual blogs! One interesting and unique aspect of E-learning is that both learners and facilitators can be spread out all over the globe yet through on-line access they can be one unified classroom. By taking advantage of web tools and even social networking sites they can stay in constant contact, collaborating on assignments, projects or simply socializing.

Learning Team C is a group of Adult Learners that are taking advantage of E-Learning: we are enrolled in the Univeristy of Phoenix's on-line program. Without virtual classrooms we would not be able to pursue our own educational and career goals. In essence, our observations and opinions about E-Learning are based on actual experiences. Several members of Learning Team C are instructors within our own communities, be it a traditional classroom setting, work environment or community training program. We have the wonderful opportunity to directly apply what we are studying in an E-Learning platform to our careers. We can draw upon our experiences in our individuial classrooms and bring them to our on-line, grduate coursework - and vice versa!
As you can tell we are really excited about Adult Education and Training and, more specifically, about E-Learning. It is our hope that the excitement is passed along to you and anyone else stopping by! This wiki will feature our assignments and blogs. We invite you to comment and offer your own ideas concerning E-learning: how to improve some of the snafus that can crop up in any learning program or those specific to virtual classrooms.

DID YOU KNOW ...?

CALCampus was the first to develop and implement the concept of a totally online-based school? This was a significant departure from earlier methods of distance education because no longer was the individual distance learner isolated from the teacher and from classmates.

In doing research for one of the assignments a Learning Team Member found several excellent videos on developing online learning episodes. One of which is presented here, an interview with an online instructional developer on creating successful interactive learning platforms. The Team Member also found another video which displays what NOT to do. We've posted the link in the side bar: "When E-Learning Fails - See for yourself" . We welcome your opinions, comments and possible suggestions for how/what can be done to improve this presentation. ENJOY!!

Our most recent Learning Team Assignment centered around the use of particular instructional tools and how they might be effectively used in an E-Learning platform. The specific teaching tools were were focusing are PERSONALIZATION, PRE-TRAINING/SEGMENTATION, and WORKED EXAMPLES.
A lot of the ideas were compiled into a PowerPoint presentation, be sure and check it out.
Using Wiki for Personalization
• To support learners in e-learning, instructors use personalization by incorporating terminology, which is focused to be as a circumference around the learners.
• To keep up a correspondence, instructors use various personalization scenarios including information necessary to be introduced to learners.
• Perceptions are personalized by instructors to be directly secured with important information that learners need.
• Optimizing personalization together with on-screen agents.
Using Wiki for Pre-training
• In classrooms, instructors use pre-training to establish vocabularies that assist learners to absorb concepts.
• Each principle and each related concept can be fundamentally introduced, explained, and rationalized.
• Instructional methods can be enhanced carefully, so students can be tested for their pre-knowledge assessment.
• Allowing learners to merge and combine the connection between the parts and the entire perception of the concept.
Using Wiki for Segmentation
• To better understanding the concepts by learners, instructors use segmentation, which is breaking down the information to smaller pieces as required.
• Learners can retain information easier when it is segmented to parts by instructors.
• Pictures, words, and videos can be introduced better for learners to understand, as examples through partial segments.
• For instructors to keep track of what information introduced to the learners, using segmentation of information is the most helpful solution.
• For the learners to be under control of not to be overwhelmed of information.
